Alicante was the chosen destination for the hosmarkhotels’ January kick-off meeting and it certainly didn’t disappoint! When packing for our trip, it was hard to believe that the temperatures were going to be UK summer like, but we were treated to blue skies and warm sunshine, a welcome change from the icy conditions back home!
Alicante airport, with its fantastic European airlift, was a pleasant surprise – modern and airy and the transfer into town is less than 20 minutes too! We stayed at the newly renovated Hotel Amerigo, a former convent which is right in the heart of the old town – just steps from restaurants, shopping, the impressive corniche, marina and sandy beach! Wow – what a great destination for a 2 night trip.
Tapas were on the menu for our first night, hosted by our friendly and charming colleagues from Hospes Hotels – a delicious variety of dishes accompanied by the highly recommended local Alicante red wine. Santa Barbara Castle towers over the city and is definitely worth a visit with its stunning panoramic views. We even managed to squeeze in a few hours on the roof terrace of the hotel with its sundeck, pool and impressive views of the castle.
Eating and drinking seems to take centre stage on our team trips, but then it’s a must to sample our hotel’s hospitality isn’t it!? We enjoyed the delights of the modern Mediterranean cuisine on offer at the hotel’s Fondillón restaurant and Roger even managed to bring some of his favourite padron peppers home to the UK.
Many thanks to the Hospes team for looking after us so well and for ordering temperatures in the mid 20s in January. Great work!
