Three lucky members of the hosmarkhotels team visited the brand-new Pical Resort, Valamar Collection this week, and it certainly lived up to expectations. After several years in the planning, the resort has finally opened its doors, unveiling three exceptional hotel concepts that make the wait more than worthwhile!
Imogen and Rowan stayed in the five-star Pical Hotel, where modern, light-filled rooms feature spacious terraces, stylish furnishings and thoughtful touches including a selection of complimentary drinks in the minibar. The Family Hotel is equally impressive, offering generous family rooms, colourful play areas and a full-board dining concept designed to satisfy even the choosiest of young guests.
For those seeking an elevated experience, we felt the 113-room serene Pical Suites provide a refined retreat, with a dedicated check-in, exclusive swimming pool and beautifully landscaped gardens set apart from the main resort, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere.
The extensive meeting space in the purpose built ‘Pical Event Centre‘ is one of the largest conference venues in Croatia. With a maximum capacity of 1200 delegates, it features 1900sqm of meeting space including a divisible congress hall and 7 flexible syndicate rooms.
Across the resort, we took advantage of the outstanding facilities including multiple indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, several beach areas (we may have managed a couple of quick dips in the Adriatic!), and a particular highlight for us was the stunning ESPA wellness centre where the journey through the 8 unique saunas left us feeling fully rejuvenated!
As you would expect from an Istrian resort, an area celebrated for its rich gastronomy, the restaurants did not disappoint. Each hotel has their own dedicated dining space, but there are plenty of different options to explore including a laid-back beachside grill – Fogo by Bekal, and a Michelin-led tasting experience at Harry’s Piccolo Poreč. A standout for us was Miramare on Sveti Nikola Island, just a short boat trip from Poreč, where we enjoyed incredible Italian dishes overlooking the Adriatic.
Just a few days later, Lesley flew out to Istria on a whistle-stop visit to Pical Resort for the grand opening party; the town celebrated a major milestone and €200m investment by Valamar Collection. The evening came alive with music, lights, and the vibrant “Tribute to Parenzana” celebration, bringing together over 5,000 guests from across the region. More than a spectacular opening party, the event marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Poreč as a premier destination for luxury, culture, and unforgettable experiences. Few places capture the magic of the Adriatic quite like Poreč. With its charming old town, vibrant waterfront, and rich cultural heritage, this Istrian gem effortlessly blends history, beauty, and Mediterranean charm – what better place to visit for your conferences, incentives or leisure travel!
