A fam trip is not complete without experiencing the destination as well as the hotels, but my oh my, what a busy 3 days! Minor Hotels have seven properties in this beautiful city, most of which are central and within walking distance of the must-see historic sights, such as The Vatican, The Spanish Steps, The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain to name just a few!
We were very fortunate to stay at the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome, in Junior Suites no less, with a lovely welcome letter from the GM and a bottle of wine – such a shame we had to drink it all as we flew BA carry-on and couldn’t take it home!
First up was the NH Collection Palazzo Cinquecento, which is located very conveniently next door to the main train station. The NH Collection Roma Fori Imperiali is a charming 42 room hotel with amazing views from the rooftop bar. NH Collection Vittorio Veneto is in the midst of rebranding to nhow Rome – a very modern funky bright venue, and NH Collection Roma Centro, is right in the centre of the shopping district, perfect for nipping out for stylish Italian gifts – I was gutted that we just didn’t have the time, but my wallet breathed a sigh of relief!
NH Roma Villa Carpegna is located away from the hustle and bustle of Rome’s busy streets and can offer great meeting space. NH Collection Roma Giustiniano is also very close to the shopping district and has amazing views of The Vatican. We learnt all about a classic Italian cake, the Maritozzo (a prospective husband would give a large maritozzo decorated with sugar to his bride-to-be, inside of which was a ring or a small golden object. So maritozzo literally now means ‘hubby’).
This was one of the most jam-packed fam trips I’ve ever been on, but it was incredibly educational and worth every step. The friendly staff at each of the hotels plied us with delicious food and cocktails and we found that the service at every hotel was second to none! The whole fam trip was perfectly organised by the dream team Ilaria Ilari, Claudio Schenardi and Federica Di Leone.
