A captivating location

The former San Esteban Salesian Convent has been sensitively converted into the Hospes Palacio de San Esteban. The hotel is overlooked by the Cathedrals, and its combination of the historic and modern make this a very special venue. Salamanca is a city full of hidden treasures and living history that is easily discoverable on foot thanks to its large number of pedestrian streets. The hotel is only a ten minute walk from the Plaza Mayor of Salamanca, from where you can easily reach some of the city’s most iconic buildings such as the Palacio de Fonseca, the Torre del Clavero or La Casa de las Conchas. Heritage, culture and gastronomy make Salamanca a unique city to enjoy at any time of the year. There are concerts, cultural events, gastronomic forums of all kinds. Golf enthusiasts can also practice their favourite sport at one of the city’s clubs, which are open all year round.

The distinctive stone arches and wooden floor of the El Monje restaurant will take you back in time, where the most traditional recipes of Salamanca cuisine are served with with an innovative touch, using fresh, quality ingredients. You can sample authentic local wines under the breathtaking views of the Cathedrals on the summer terrace El Patio de los Olivos, or enjoy your lunches and dinners al fresco. The star ingredient of Salamanca’s gastronomy is meat in all its forms, from sausages such as Candelario chorizo, Guijuelo ham, Salamanca sausage and farinatos from Ciudad Rodrigo, to tostón and suckling lamb roasted in the Castilian style, as well as Moorish beef, a native breed.

The location next to the cathedrals and 500 metres from the Plaza Mayor makes this an exceptional place to hold any type of event. There are 7 function and conference rooms with a maximum capacity of 120 people and 523m², all of them with natural light and independent air conditioning. The outdoor areas are also available. The old refectory with its impressive vault (with capacity for 138 guests), the Library, the Patio de los Olivos or the Huerta de los Dominicos (up to 350 guests) become unique, exclusive event spaces.

Hosmarkhotels ‘Going Greener’ strategy has been developed as MICE, leisure & business travel markets are beginning to concentrate their activities on suppliers that have strong green credentials. As many of our partners are in diverse destinations, it is key that the hotels are operated in a sustainable way and that the impact of tourism does not have an adverse effect  on the indigenous people and wider environment of that country.

Many of our hotel partners are committed to environmental, social and cultural conservation across their locations and are working towards recognised accreditations. As such, we have asked our hotels to provide details of their policies and activities in our survey below. More information and links to the evidence that support this survey can be found here:  This hotel's Green Survey

Hospes focuses its activity in such a way that it enhances its positive environmental impacts and eliminates or mitigates the negative ones, whichwill improve its competence and environmental sustainability.
