The long-awaited fam trip to Cancun hosted by Palace Resorts and All About Flights came around very quickly last Wednesday, starting with a seamless flight with British Airways from London Gatwick. Once arrived Moon Palace The Grand checked us in promptly and were chaperoned to La Cantina restaurant where we were initiated by true Mexican cuisine and then on to much needed sleep.
Day 1 entailed driving our own speedboats through the mangroves on a Jungle Tour and some snorkelling before returning back for lunch at Habibi Lebanese restaurant. Quick change afterwards and on to a site inspection of Le Blanc and the fine dining French Lumiere Restaurant. An early start the next day for bird watching on the Moon Palace grounds with the site biologists was amazing where we even saw crocodiles in the golf course waters – a true deterrent not to retrieve the mis-hit golf balls!
Later off to Sun Palace for a site inspection and dinner at Fuego – more Mexican cuisine but with a few tequilas this time – our perfect host Mahoma showed us how it was done! Next day was a day full of excitement starting with a site inspection of Playacar Palace and then an extreme zipwire experience in the jungle, ending with a refreshing dip and dive into the local Cenote. Later was an Asian culinary experience at Jade Restaurant where the sushi was exquisite!
Last day was spent relaxing in the spa and of course 1 or 2 cocktails in the sun to end a truly terrific hotel stay. We were very happy to have a night flight home on Sunday to catch up with some well-needed sleep!
