What a way to spend the bank holiday by making a flying visit across the Atlantic to Miami Beach and the iconic Fontainebleau Hotel! My expectations were high - from the well-earned reputation the Fontainebleau has for handling top events; its historic background littered with celebrity to its famous food and beverage operation. It certainly didn’t disappoint! The taxi ride from Miami international Airport just takes 20 minutes and what a vista as you drive over the causeway to the Miami Beach strip looking across to the houses of the famous on Star and Fisher islands. I’m sure I saw Gloria Estefan! Arriving at the main entrance of the Fontainebleau, I realised I was in the original building, the Chateau Tower, designed by Morris Lapidus in 1954.
